Lindsey Knight

LADY LIONS INK LINDSEY KNIGHT

Volleyball - Tue, Dec. 13, 2011

Bryan College women's volleyball is pleased to announce the signing of Lindsey Knight. She is 5'10 Outside Hitter and Middle Hitter and is currently a senior at Warner Christian High School in South Daytona Beach, Fla. Knight played her first 2 years at New Smyrna Beach High School as a middle hitter. She transferred to Warner Christian Academy and played on the varsity volleyball team, which holds 7 District Titles, 4 regional and 3 State Championships. She also played for Power Volleyball Academy, a Christian based club.

Knight helped lead her team to a State Championship in 2010 and district Title in 2011. She was her team captain her senior year and was named to the All-County 2nd Team. Knight was named All-County Honorable Mention and was Rookie of the Year her first year of playing for Warner Christian with 107 blocks.

Knight says she chose Bryan College because, "Bryan is not only a beautiful school, but I felt like it was the right fit for me. I love everything about the school and how it made me feel home right away. Continuing my Christian education is important to me, and I know Bryan is the right choice to not only call my new home away from home, but also to continue my dream to play volleyball at the collegiate level." Knight said that she has a saying she learned from my older brother which has stuck with her: "Just okay is not enough, not ever." She stated that she tries to apply that to her life in every aspect.

Bryan College Head Coach David Shumaker commented, "We are very excited about Lindsey, both as an athlete and a person. She is the kind of player you want as a teammate. Although she comes off a little bit shy, once you break the ice she is friendly and fun to be around. As a volleyball player, she is extremely athletic and intelligent. She can play any of the hitting positions and is an excellent serve receive passer. She really hits the ball high and hard. Because of her position flexibility, Lindsey will compete both as an outside and middle hitter."

Knight is a member of the National Honor Society, and works hard in the classroom. She plans on pursuing major in psychology and specializing in sports psychology.

Knight attends Edgewater Alliance Church with her family. One of her most memorable experiences was a mission trip to New Orleans with her volleyball team. She also will travel to Colorado with her senior class in January.
